Business Solutions Developer

As part of the IT team, the Business Solutions Developer will provide focus and continuity as well as help deliver good value for cost. Specific projects for 2008, dependant on prioritization from EH department managers, may include but not limited to: eCommerce solution, new direction for expo group websites using Gazette CMS.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance on devising effective and efficient approaches to achieve business objectives and priorities as determined by the EH senior management team
  • Improve business processes
  • Contribute to enterprise architecture development from a business needs point of view ensuring that a maximally robust architecture is developed.
  • Work with all departments, business units, and product sales areas to coordinate interdependencies, eliminate duplicate effort, and resolve issues
  • Analyze and map processes (current state/future state)
  • Produce high quality documentation
  • Generate the highest level of system requirements, based on the project’s requirements and other factors such as cost and schedule.
  • Perform cost-benefit analyses to determine whether requirements are best met by manual, software, or hardware functions
  • Develop workflows and processes to allow for all present and foreseeable requirements; minimize data stores and the number of applications required to launch and maintain
  • Build components to maximize usability and optimize components to reuse as appropriate.
  • Generate acceptance test requirements, together with the user, which determine that all of the high level requirements have been met and are functioning as requested.
  • Generating products such as user requirement documents, models, an early user guide, and prototypes to keep project stakeholders, EH management and IT staff constantly up to date and in agreement on the system to be provided as it is evolving.

Qualifications:

  • Highly technical – must have understanding in all solution aspects, needs to be familiar with the various products and functional and technical specifications.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong programming skills, specifically using PHP with minimum 5 years of professional experience
  • Familiarity with relational databases such as mySQL
  • Knowledge in UNIX, Linux, Microsoft and OSX operating systems.
